TSP Mission

Our Mission

The Squeegie Project is committed to transforming the lives of Black Opportunity Youth through innovative, technology-based programming. Our mission is to equip young people with industry-ready technology skill sets necessary to succeed in the 21st-century job market. By offering targeted, hands-on training, we focus on coding and game design as primary skills, complemented by filmmaking and AI, providing our participants with scalable skill sets and diverse career options.

We aim to develop community-centered individuals who can secure employment greater than a living wage, ultimately benefiting themselves, their families, and their communities. Recognizing the significant socioeconomic challenges our youth face, our mission extends beyond technical training. We strive to cultivate discipline, communication, self-actualization, and socialization among our participants.

By investing in the community, collaborating with local organizations, and leveraging corporate partnerships, we aim to create a sustainable impact that empowers our youth to become future leaders. While our roots are in Baltimore, our vision is to expand internationally, bringing our innovative approach to youth empowerment to communities worldwide. Meet The founder

Monique Bess is a dedicated social entrepreneur with a deep passion for community engagement and development. With a background in science, media engagement, and leveraging her lived experiences, Monique has built a strong foundation for her impactful community work. Investing in the vitality of community members is her life’s work, and she intends to fulfill this mission in her beloved city, Baltimore.

Monique’s mission is to uplift Black communities by fostering self-reliance and utilizing local strengths to address social challenges. She envisions communities that solve their own problems, leading to more sustainable and meaningful solutions. Monique firmly believes that true community development starts within the community, rather than relying solely on external forces.

As an avid cyclist, Monique regularly explores Baltimore on her bike, allowing her to connect deeply with the city and its residents. Her commitment to telling the stories of regular people doing extraordinary things is evident in her role as a business owner in Black media. Inspired by her nurturing mother, R.L. Bess, Monique’s drive to thrive has pure origins, which explains her uplifting approach to community relationships that are central to her work.

Monique’s work is not just about providing solutions but about empowering the community to create its own. Her dedication to Baltimore is unwavering, and she is committed to platforming voices and stories that often go unheard.
