Fresh Films (FF)

ABOUT FRESH FILMS

Fresh Films is a dynamic six-week teaching module and a key component of The Squeegie Project. Designed to be adaptable for participants of all ages, Fresh Films offers a unique blend of creative and technical training. Currently in its Beta phase, this program targets workforce development by enhancing socialization, communication, team-building, task orientation, and self-actualization skills, which are essential for success in both educational pursuits and career building.

Participants in the Fresh Films module engage in an accelerated course that offers a variety of subjects designed to provide a comprehensive education in filmmaking and media production. These subjects include:

Storytelling and Film Development

Participants learn the fundamentals of crafting compelling narratives and communicating their stories for film development. This foundation of storytelling is crucial for creating engaging content in media production, advertising, and digital marketing. The process of story development allows participants to value themselves and their experiences as stepping stones to their future. Strong storytelling skills enhance creativity and promote the ability to communicate ideas effectively.

Cinematography

Training in cinematography covers the technical aspects of camera operation, lighting, and shot composition. These skills are vital for roles in film and video production, where visual storytelling is a key component. Game design uses cinematography as an integral element that attracts players to the game. The “look” of the game is just as important as its functionality. Knowledge of cinematography also opens up opportunities in photography and other visual media fields.

Editing and Post-Production

Participants gain hands-on experience with editing software and post-production techniques. The editing software we employ includes free and mobile versions, allowing participants to continue using these tools after completing Fresh Films. Editing is a critical skill in the media industry, required for assembling raw footage into polished, professional content. Proficiency in editing enhances job prospects in film, television, and online content creation.

Camera Operation

Using industry-grade camera equipment, SLRs, and mobile technology, participants learn to capture the perfect shot. They identify and demonstrate different ways and angles to get the shot, learning to create their shot by merging multiple camera shots and angles. Comprehensive training in camera operation and industry tools helps participants develop their filmmaking skills.

By engaging in these subjects, participants gain technical skills and understand their practical applications in real-world scenarios. The curriculum is designed to be immersive, interactive, and engaging, providing students with a strong foundation in media production and preparing them for various career paths in the industry.

PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS

The skills learned in Fresh Films are directly aligned with the needs of the modern media production market and offer a great gateway for determining a participant’s interest and aptitude for such work. Upon completion, there are many pathways to success, including:
